Title: Communications Specialist

Reports to: Director of Marketing

Summary: The Communications Specialist is responsible for assisting the Director of Marketing in developing and executing the company’s annual marketing plan. Writing press releases, social media and blog posts, enewsletters, website copy and managing the production of an annual report are key components of the position. The Communications Specialist will identify content and stories through relationships with Tri-ED staff and external partners to raise awareness of the company and Northern Kentucky region, within Kentucky, the Cincinnati region and globally. This role coordinates, executes, monitors and measures the company’s marketing and communications efforts for internal reports and the board of directors.

  1. Provide communications support to Tri-ED, including writing and designing enewsletters, collateral for events, and scheduling social media posts to heighten awareness.
  2. Ability to approach communications, keeping in mind multiple audiences and their perspectives, and design content to raise awareness of Tri-ED and the Northern Kentucky region.
  3. Develop reports on marketing activities, engagement levels, and progress.
  4. Stay current with communications and marketing trends in commercial real estate, economic development, workforce and other relevant topics to foster innovation and new approaches to marketing Northern Kentucky.
  5. Perform other duties as necessary.

Additional Duties

  1. Assist Tri-ED team with presentations.
  2. Maintain and cultivate relationships with communications and marketing professionals at companies, non-profits and elected officials in Northern Kentucky and the Cincinnati region.
  3. Manage and organize Tri-ED investor relations and community-focused events.
  4. Engage with community officials and business leaders to strengthen relationships between communities and businesses.

Qualification Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations or marketing from an accredited college or university, preferred, or any combination of training and experience which meet the desired knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  2. At least two to three years of experience in communications, PR, marketing or related field.
  3. Knowledge of writing and messaging best practices for business correspondence, public relations, advertising, marketing, copy and social media.
  4. Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office, WordPress, Salesforce, Google Analytics and software.
  5. Must have strong attention to detail and excellent organization skills.
  6. Must be a self-starter, motivated, well-organized, results-oriented, and willing to learn new skills.
  7. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
